Self Care with Sofia: Benefits of Sleep

Welcome back to Sofia the Self-Care Specialist. How are you?

This week’s episode is about sleep and how it plays a role in our day-to-day lives.

We sleep every single day, and sleep fuels our bodies so we can live the rest of the day happy and energized. Do you know the amount of sleep you should get every single night? According to doctors, the average teenager (14-17) should get around 8-10 hours of sleep a night.

It may be difficult to fit in 8-10 hours a night because of homework, after-school activities, and out of school activities, but it is so worth it. When you don’t sleep for the recommended time, or don’t sleep for however long you’re used to, your body cannot function properly. Your brain doesn’t work as quickly, and can lead to serious illnesses.

So now that you know how long you’re actually supposed to sleep, I challenge you all to try to actually get that much every night for a week! Good luck!
